As it was informed earlier, joint statement of Turkey and the US was spread in Ankara on July 15 on the results of joint commission on consideration of conflict between the Turkish and US troops in Northern Iraq. The statement says that Turkey and USA will strengthen the coordination of mutual activity in this region in order not to admit such incidents in future.

Along with it, the US Defense Minister Donald Ramsfeld sent a letter to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan on behalf of the US President George Bush, where the respect and trust of the US to Turkey and its Armed Forces expressed. The importance of Turkey as strategic ally for USA is also noted in the letter.

Speaking on July 16, in Istanbul, at the session of the Turkish-American committee on cooperation, the US Ambassador in this country Robert Peterson said that they regret on the happened and would not like this to happen.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Abdulla Gul, responding the journalists said that he was not going to postpone his working visit to the USA planned on late July.
