Statement by AZERTAC
Baku, February 27, AZERTAC
Aygun Aliyeva, a former AZERTAC correspondent for Italy, appealed to court regarding her dismissal in 2020, and this process is still ongoing. Vugar Aliyev, the new chairman of AZERTAC since November 2022, offered Aygun Aliyeva an out-of-court settlement and personally spoke with her several times. It was suggested to Aygun Aliyeva that her dismissal be cancelled and that she be employed by AZERTAC. Despite this, Aygun Aliyeva expressed an interest in pursuing the legal action.
Statements by Aygun Aliyeva and her lawyer Bahruz Bayramov that she was allegedly not offered a job are wide of the mark and any such claims are regrettable. The management of AZERTAC is in favor of resolving this case within the framework of the law.
It should be noted that personnel reforms are currently under way at AZERTAC. The activities of the agency's correspondents in foreign countries are also being revisited. The way many of them were appointed to these positions raises questions, and the agency currently looks into these affairs.
