STATE WOMAN’S POLICY SUCCESSFUL

The Decree “On Implementation of the State Woman’s Policy in the Azerbaijan Republic” issued by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev implies involvement of women in holding executive positions in all the state structures on a par with men.

In 2003, according to the State Committee for Women’s problems, 3 /3,5%/ of 84 heads of region executive bodies, 15 /19,5%/ of 410 their deputies, and 42 /7,2%/ of 577 department chiefs at the bodies were women.

At the present, women head departments of education in 7 out of 84 districts, healthcare in 10 and culture in 14. 886 women hold the offices of School Director, 364 - Head Physician, 3708 Houses of Culture and Libraries. 882 women hold executive positions at enterprises and farms. 4566 women are engaged in business.
