SPECIAL OSCE MEETING DUE

One of the priorities of the 2004 OSCE Chairmanship is to continue discussion on electoral standards and commitments, which will be the topic of the second Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting of the year. The meeting, which will take place in Vienna 15-16 July, will focus on the following three areas:

The main goal of the Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting is to discuss universal election principles, existing OSCE commitments, and best practices for democratic elections. The discussion will use the 1990 Copenhagen Document, which sets out existing OSCE commitments, as a departure point and will consider the necessity for further follow-up on existing commitments on elections, as well as the potential need for additional commitments.
