BTC TURKEY’S SECTION 99 PERCENT COMPLETE
Construction of the Turkey’ section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main oil export pipeline (BTC MEP) is 99 percent complete, with surface finishing process being underway at the third pump station, AIOC informed.
Oil pumped in May 2005 from Sangachal terminal has reached the second pump station near Erzrum. Official opening is due to be held in May. All the exploitation works have already been finished at the terminal, which now is fully prepared to receive oil. Filling the 1.768-km long pipeline requires 10 billion barrels of oil. The Turkey’s section of the MEP also includes four pump and two measuring stations, and Ceyhan terminal consisting of 7 oil reservoirs and a 2-kilometers long berth capable of loading two 300 thousand tons displacement tankers.
