AZERBAIJAN, GEORGIA: RELATIONS HAVE RICH POTENTIAL

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Parliament Murtuz Alaskarov received on 1 May the visiting foreign minister of Georgia Ms. Salome Zurabishvili.

As stated, Speaker of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Republic said the two nations have old parliamentary links. Thanks to farsighted policy of the national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev these relations have acquired strategic partnership level, he stressed. This policy is successfully continued and today. Realization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines and expansion of the Great Silk Road will make Azerbaijan and Georgia strong and powerful states. Noting that there are living about 500 thousand Azerbaijanis, Mr. Alaskarov also noticed the existing problems.

Expressing gratitude for warm reception, Ms. Salome Zurabishvili said that the friendly relations should be further continued and maintained. It has great opportunities.

At the meeting, also were exchanged views on a number of other issues.
