ARREST OF SOME UZANS SANCTIONED
AzerTAj’s previous reports read that prosecutor’s office of the Shishli district of Istanbul launched an investigation into the case of Uzan Group. Law-enforcement, tax and finance experts of Turkey were involved into this case. During a large-scale investigation, banks, plants, and companies are being inspected. The Prosecutor’s office has listened the evidences of over 100 organizations’ top executives. Nevertheless, the main problem is to interrogate the owner of the companies, the Uzans’ family. Despite all assurances, brothers Hakan, Kamal and Yavuz Uzan had not appear at the Prosecutor’s office. On August 27, Shishli district Prosecutor’s office issued contumacy on their arrest.
The address of Turkish Youth Party chairman Jem Uzan to “Star” paper staff claims that they do not defend the Uzans interests peroperly. Following this address, the “Star” editor Fatih Chekirge and some famous journalists and political correspondents resigned. Frightened with the fact that the paper will suspend its operation, paper owners urgently returned earlier fired journalists bac and among them Irfan Sapmaz, well known in Azerbaijan.
