And I wouldn't be here without Mercedes and without my family. I'm speechless, I'm trying to process what's just happened," Antonelli said after the race."It's been an incredible season, and to share this podium with Max and Lewis is incredible. I look forward to more battles in the future."This weekend, I did feel a little more tense. I'm just so happy I got it done," he added.Verstappen finished 0.799 seconds ahead of Hamilton to claim victory, while newly crowned world champion Antonelli completed the podium, 4.006 seconds behind the winner.Charles Leclerc finished fourth, followed by Lando Norris, George Russell, Oscar Piastri, Franco Colapinto, Liam Lawson and Pierre Gasly. https://azertag.az/en/xeber/verstappen_on_the_opportunistic_move_that_earned_him_fantastic_win_at_mexico_city_gp-4490808 Mon, 02 Nov 2026 11:29:00 +0400 Baku, November 2, AZERTACMax Verstappen believes that Ferrari “made it a little bit difficult for themselves” as their intra-team battle gave him a perfect chance to gain a position and chase down victory at the Mexico City Grand Prix, marking his third win of the season, according to Formula 1.An incident with Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson and a badly-timed lock-up in Qualifying meant that Verstappen started the race from fifth on the grid, but a great start propelled him to P3 on the opening lap. From there, he capitalised on an off-track moment for Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc up ahead to move into second place, with the Monegasque later handed a five-second time penalty for leaving the circuit and gaining a lasting advantage.Red Bull’s strategy then saw them call Verstappen into the pits at the same time as Leclerc, allowing him to overtake his penalised rival and secure the race lead, which he maintained all the way to the chequered flag.“We gave it everything,” he said after pipping Hamilton by just 0.799s. “The first start was good – that, of course, already made my race.“I think the team also really gave me the right strategy to pit together with Charles and then overtake him in the pit stop because of the penalty. Then it was just fighting to the end, because I think Ferrari today were really fast.“I do think they made it a little bit difficult for themselves, fighting each other, and that’s why I could capitalise on that.“I mean, I’ll take it, right? I always try to go for every opportunity and today I saw the opportunity.“It was a cool fight until the end – Lewis was flat-out in my gearbox so I couldn’t afford to make a mistake.”Verstappen was under pressure from Hamilton on both restarts, respectively the result of Valtteri Bottas’ suspension failure and a crash for Arvid Lindblad after the Racing Bulls driver and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri made contact.Hamilton’s failure to find a way past has had an impact on the contest for P2 in the Drivers’ Championship, with Verstappen now two points ahead of Hamilton after Kimi Antonelli sealed his maiden title.Asked what he can take from the weekend as a whole, Verstappen replied: “It’s always so difficult around here, this track, to get everything right. It’s so slippery as well, and never easy to feel super confident with the car.“We come out of it with a win, so that’s fantastic. We just keep learning from our weaknesses, our strengths, and apply that also for next year.” https://azertag.az/en/xeber/dakar_2026_azerbaijani_judoka_claims_gold_medal-4490424 Sun, 01 Nov 2026 21:21:00 +0400 Baku, November 1, AZERTACAzerbaijani judoka Ibrahim Talibov captured the country's first gold medal at the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.Competing in the 55kg weight category, Talibov defeated his Croatian rival Jona Zvorc in the final bout to secure Azerbaijan’s first gold medal at Dakar 2026.Azerbaijan is represented by 13 athletes across 8 sports disciplines at the Olympic event. https://azertag.az/en/xeber/azerbaijani_wrestler_claims_bronze_at_world_championships_in_kazakhstan-4490412 Sun, 01 Nov 2026 21:03:00 +0400 Astana, November 1, AZERTACAzerbaijani freestyle wrestler Ali Tsokayev secured a bronze medal at the World Championship in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.Competing in the 92kg weight category, Tsokayev defeated Iranian wrestler Amirhossein Firouzpour in the bronze-medal bout to secure third place. Bayern's Michael Olise hit the post after 10 minutes, before Dortmund gradually found its rhythm and Jobe Bellingham saw his effort denied by goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.Bayern then suffered successive injury setbacks as Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry were forced off.Dortmund thought it had taken the lead in the 34th minute when Bellingham capitalized on Dayot Upamecano's misplaced pass, but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.Four minutes later, Konrad Laimer intercepted Felix Nmecha's pass, combined with Olise and scored at the second attempt after goalkeeper Gregor Kobel initially denied him.Bayern maintained its pressure after the interval, with Kobel producing another fine save against Laimer. Kane then missed a penalty awarded for Nmecha's handball in the 56th minute.Dortmund responded four minutes later when Nico Schlotterbeck intercepted Kane's pass and launched an attack that led to Serhou Guirassy's goal.Bayern regained the lead in the 66th minute as Joshua Kimmich picked out Kane, whose headed pass allowed Upamecano to finish from close range. An emergency doctor was called to the scene.Kompany will continue his recovery at home, where he is expected to get the rest he needs before returning to work.
